Two youths were killed and a woman injured after being hit by a vehicle that was allegedly in the cavalcade of BJP candidate from Kaiserganj and Karan Bhushan Singh in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, police said.

Karan Singh is the son of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is the Kaiserganj MP and the former Wrestling Federation of India chief.

The driver of the SUV, Luvkush Srivastava, has been apprehended by the authorities in connection with the fatal accident.

According to eyewitnesses, the convoy was traveling on the Colonelganj-Hujoorpur Road near Baikunth Degree College when the accident took place. The impact of the collision was so severe that the two young men, Rehan Khan (17) and Shehzad Khan (20) who were riding on the motorcycle died on the spot.

The SUV that hit the duo lost control and also hit Sita Devi (60) who was walking on the road side, said Kernalganj SHO Nirbhay Narayan Singh.

Calling the incident "shocking" TMC's Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale said, "Remember, this eerily reminds one of BJP Minister Ajay Teni’s son who had run over farmers & killed them. Was Brij Bhushan’s son in the car? Why does he have a “convoy”? Has BJP replaced a rapist with a murderer?"
