Two injured in IED blast by HNLC in Shillong

The police in a statement added, "in this incident, two persons sustained minor injuries on their persons. Wall of Tea Shop and windows of the adjacent building were damaged".

Last month, the outfit had carried out another IED attack near quarters of the Reserve Police in East Jaintia Hills district.
Suspected militants belonging to outlawed outfit, Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Iew Shillong, Laitumkhrah on Tuesday which injured two persons.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma tweeted, "Strongly condemn the IED blast reported in Laitumkhrah earlier this afternoon that has injured two citizens. Home Minister, @LahkmenR& officials of @MeghalayaPolicehave apprised me on the matter and further investigation is being carried out".

East Khasi hills district police stated, “Today at about 1:30 PM, received information that a blast took place at Laitumkhrah market near a Tea Shop situated in the Parking Lot. Immediately Bomb Squad. Crime Scene Unit and Dog Squad were sent to the P.O. for collection of evidence. During the preliminary investigation, it was ascertained that the blast occurred due to L.E.D.”


Last month, the outfit had carried out another IED attack near quarters of the Reserve Police in East Jaintia Hills district. Earlier this year, HNLC had also carried out an attack inside a cement plant in the district. Three persons had been arrested then in connection with the blast.
