The incident occurred around 10 pm on Thursday near the reservation hall opposite the DRM office.
A portion of the ceiling came crashing down amid ongoing work by the Rail Land Development Authority, they said. The work was part of a redevelopment project aimed at transforming the iconic station, a UNESCO World Heritage site, into a modern transit hub.

A Central Railway spokesperson said that the injured passengers were identified as Vinayak Balu Hatkar (28) and Ayan Naushad Matwankar (24).
"Hatkar sustained a 3-4 cm lacerated wound on the right side of his scalp, which required suturing, while Matwankar suffered an injury to his left upper eyelid, abrasions on his right shoulder blade and neck, and pain and swelling in his right ankle," the official said.
Both passengers were undergoing treatment in the casualty department of the government-run St George's Hospital near CSMT, the spokesperson added.
Lakhs of people use the CSMT every single day for suburban and long-distance train travel.
