New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday said it has secured the deportation of two fugitives - Muhammedali Kanneer Palliyalil and Avinash Arjun Rathod - from Gulf countries in coordination with external affairs and home ministries and the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Palliyalil, deported from Saudi Arabia on Thursday, was wanted for murder while Rathod, deported from the United Arab Emirates on the same day, was wanted in a case involving large-scale financial fraud, CBI said.

Palliyalil, now arrested by NIA for unlawful activities and murder, along with his associates in furtherance of the larger conspiracy, unlawfully assembled with deadly weapons and assailants criminally trespassed into the shop of a victim, wrongfully restrained him and inflicted grievous injuries by using lethal weapons and killed him, the statement said.

Rathod was taken into custody by a team of Maharashtra Police on arrival at Mumbai airport. "In criminal conspiracy with others, the subject induced investors to invest in multiple schemes by falsely promising assured fixed monthly returns. The subject dishonestly misappropriated the funds and diverted the proceeds through multiple bank accounts and demat accounts. Earlier, a Red Notice was published against the subject through Interpol," CBI said.
