Haldwani: Two employees died after a massive fire broke out at an Amazon warehouse in Uttarakhand's Haldwani city, police said on Saturday.

Haldwani Superintendent of Police (City) Manoj Katyal said that after extinguishing the blaze, the bodies of two employees -- Narendra Prasad, 35, a resident of Haldwani's Bagjala, and Amit Arya, 25, a resident of Rampur Road -- were found inside the e-commerce company's warehouse opposite Sheetal Hotel on Rampur Road.

Katyal said after receiving information about the fire at the warehouse late Friday night, the police, fire department, and administrative teams rushed to the scene.

He said the fire spread rapidly within the warehouse and was doused only after significant effort.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the cause of the fire is not known yet, they said, adding that the matter is under investigation.
