The BCI said an FIR has been registered against Singh for alleged dowry death, cruelty and allied offences, and noted that the advocate was allegedly absconding and not cooperating with the investigation.
Calling the allegations “grave”, the Council said the matter adversely affected the dignity and public image of the legal profession.
“The allegations against the advocate are extremely serious in nature and have the potential to erode public confidence in the legal fraternity,” the BCI said while announcing the suspension.
The Council said the suspension would remain in force pending further proceedings in the matter. According to ANI, the case pertains to the death of Twisha Sharma within months of her marriage in Bhopal.
