Tripura: MLA caught watching obscene video in Assembly

A legislator of the ruling BJP in Tripura, Jadab Lal Debnath was caught on camera watching obscene video on his mobile phone during the just concluded Assembly session.

BJP Tripura state President Rajib Bhattacharya said that the party would soon issue a notice to him and seek clarification.

Tipra Motha Party (TMP) leader and leader of Opposition Animesh Debbarma said that all the legislators are responsible persons and their acts should not create a bad precedent for the others, especially the young generations. He demanded appropriate action against the legislator.


Birajit Sinha, state Congress President said, “Use of mobile phones inside the Assembly is restricted. We should all concentrate on the proceedings and business of the House. Nath watched the porn video damaging the reputations of the House.”

The BJP MLA denied the allegations and said, "I will talk to the Assembly Speaker (Biswa Bandhu Sen) and state Party President (Rajib Bhattacharjee) and then I will take the next course of action.”

The speaker said that he is yet to get a written complaint on this matter.

TMP chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barman tweeted, “Party has commented and made the views very clear! It's shameful and action must be taken so that this becomes a lesson for all politicians. This has shamed us as a state and reflects the state in poor light.”
