Guwahati: Following fresh unrest in Bangladesh, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday said that the state and the country are fully equipped to deal with any emerging challenges.

Tipra Motha Party's youth wing on Friday staged a demonstration near the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agarala to protest "anti-India campaign" and remarks made by a leader of the neighbouring country about the Northeast.

Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and CRPF personnel have been deployed to provide security to Bangladesh Assistant High Commission

Addressing the media after attending an official programme in Agartala, Saha said instability has continued across the border since former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was compelled to leave the country. The release and escape of criminals from prisons point to potential security concerns that need close monitoring.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has been in constant communication with the Centre regarding the evolving situation. “Inputs have been shared with the central leadership, and we are fully prepared to respond to any situation,” he said.

Saha further informed that joint security exercises involving the Indian Army were conducted recently to assess preparedness along the border. “With advanced technology and coordinated security mechanisms in place, we are ready to handle any eventuality.”

"We want to remind anti-India forces in Bangladesh that it was India that liberated Bangladesh from the oppression of the Pakistan Army. It took only 13 days to turn East Pakistan into a sovereign country," YTF president Suraj Debbarma told reporters.

Tipra Motha Party (TMP) supremo Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma questioned, “Why political parties are silent on the killing of on Hindu Man Lynched to Death in Bangladesh. There is a protest outside the Indian embassy in Bangladesh, they are talking about breaking Northeast India and others are silent. When we raise these issues, we are called goons. We are warriors, we love Northeast India. We know how to speak out without any fear against Bangladesh.”

He added, “Real enemy is sitting in Bangladesh and threatening us every day".

Last year the Tripura government suspended three police officers, withdrew an Assistant Commandant rank officer and detained seven persons over the breach of security at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission (AHC) office in Agartala during the protests.

Last year the official said that during the protest against the atrocities on Hindus in the neighbouring country, a delegation of 'Hindu Sangharsh Samiti' met the officials of AHC and submitted a memorandum to them, urging the caretaker government of Bangladesh to stop atrocities on the Hindu community and protect their lives and properties.

During this time some activists forcefully entered the complex of the AHC and reportedly “desecrated” the Bangladesh National flag, and the police drove out the protesters immediately.
