The SC Collegium had on April 21 recommended transfer of Justices Krishna S Dixit, K Natarajan, Sanjay Gowda and Hemanth Chadangoudar, which sparked disapproval within the legal fraternity.
Advocates boycotted the proceedings at the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday, stepping up their protests over the Supreme Court’s collegium’s recommendation to transfer four judges serving in Bengaluru to other states.

Advocates Association of Bangalore (AAB) president Vivek Subba Reddy informed Chief Justice NV Anjaria in his court hall about the decision of the advocates as the court commenced its day.

The advocates boycotted the proceedings at the HC benches in Dharwad and Kalburgi too. On Tuesday, members of the bar, which included some veterans too, held a protest demonstration outside the High Court in Bengaluru, halting their work for about an hour.

The SC Collegium had on April 21 recommended transfer of Justices Krishna S Dixit, K Natarajan, Sanjay Gowda and Hemanth Chadangoudar, which sparked disapproval within the legal fraternity. The collegium has recommended transfer of Justice Dixit to Orissa High Court, Justice Natararajan to Kerala HC, Justice Hemant Chandangoudar to Madras HC and Justice Gowda to Gujarat “to infuse inclusivity and diversity at the level of High Courts and to strengthen the quality of administration of justice.”
