Bengaluru will play host to a three-day event on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) from August 24, led by the country’s eminent legal brains.

The event aims to promote the practice of alternative dispute resolution in Karnataka. Alternative dispute resolution refers to the ways people can resolve disputes without court proceedings such as mediation and arbitration.

The Arbitration & Conciliation Centre, Bengaluru (Domestic and International), the Karnataka Judicial Academy, the Advocates’ Association Bengaluru, and the Bengaluru ADR Week Committee have come together to organise the event. The ADR Week would be a pivotal forum for exploring the significance and evolution of ADR in contemporary legal contexts, the organisers said in a press release.

The Bengaluru ADR Week will feature a robust agenda of panel discussions and debates, highlighting contemporary and nuanced issues within the ADR landscape of India and Karnataka. Distinguished dignitaries, including judges from the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Karnataka, will lead these engaging sessions, providing invaluable insights into the future of dispute resolution, the release added.

This is the first of its kind that Bengaluru is witnessing. It will see a confluence of members from different walks of law come together to discuss the prevailing ADR scene in the country and abroad. The Delhi Arbitration Weekend and the London International Disputes week happened earlier this year, the organisers said.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in dynamic dialogues with leading legal professionals and scholars. Special attention will be given to young practitioners, students, and early career researchers, who will benefit from specialized training sessions led by prominent senior advocates and experts. These sessions will cover a diverse range of topics and practice areas, offering practical guidance and enhancing their understanding of ADR processes, the release said.

Bengaluru ADR Week aspires to be a cornerstone event for legal scholars, practitioners, and ADR enthusiasts. By fostering a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives, it aims to contribute significantly to the national discourse on alternative dispute resolution, the release said.
