NEW DELHI: The government on Monday given additional charge of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to the secretary, Ministry of Road Transportation and Highway (MoRTH), Anurag Jain.

Jain, a 1989 batch MP cadre IAS officer, is one of the dynamic officials in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government.

As per the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT notification, Jain’s stint as the MoHUA secretary shall continue until the appointment of a regular incumbent, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.


The Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways (MoRTH), headed by Jain, will be achieving a highest-ever four lane and access-controlled high-speed highways, reaching an ambitious road construction target of 13,000 kilometres, achieving a run rate of 35 kilometres by this fiscal end.

In a recent interaction with ET, the top official said that the number of complaints has gone down drastically.

“We have worked out a plan where subcontractors will be responsible, and are bringing about 50,000 kilometres of roads under the purview.” the top official recently said.
