Tikiri border to get interstate bus terminal
The Delhi government plans to construct a fourth interstate bus terminal near the Tikiri border to facilitate outer Delhi residents commuting to Haryana. The move will reduce congestion at Kashmere Gate ISBT. The terminal's initial capacity will b...

“We have identified land near the Tikri border. The plan is at a nascent stage, but we are examining the feasibility in depth,” said a government official on Wednesday.
The terminal would be able to accommodate six busses toi start with, and expansion would be done later, said the official.
The bus terminal will also help during road blockages due to pollution in winters.
If we have a terminal there, buses wouldn’t need to reach the central parts of the capital where the ISBTs are located,” another official said.
The new bus terminal is in line with people’s demand for ISBTs and metro stations in the region. “The colonies and villages near Tikri form the catchment area of regular passengers going to Haryana. A terminal there will make travel easier,” said Delhi Panchayat Sangh Pramukh Than Singh Yadav.
The demand for more busses and introducing a metro line for better connectivity to Delhi was a major point of contention in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
