According to Mumbai Metro One (MMOPL) authorities, the TapTap band is crafted from environmentally friendly silicone-based material, ensuring it is gentle on the skin and non-allergenic. Priced at an introductory offer of Rs. 200, commuters can now "wear their tickets instead of carrying them."
Passengers can simply tap their wristbands at the AFC gates of Mumbai Metro One to begin their journeys seamlessly. This new solution is available at all customer care centers across the metro stations.
The development of TapTap is a collaborative effort between Mumbai Metro One and Billbox Purewrist Tech Solutions, a well-known provider of customized solutions in India's payments and merchant ecosystem.
Commuters can purchase and recharge their TapTap wristbands similar to the store value pass currently in use. An MMOPL official highlighted the environmental benefits of TapTap, emphasizing its reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional payment methods. The wristband operates without batteries, is waterproof, and offers effortless usability.
In response to market demand, Mumbai Metro One has expanded its ticketing options to include return journey tickets, monthly unlimited travel passes, and WhatsApp e-Ticketing, alongside the introduction of TapTap.
