The first cruise ship of the current cruise season made a port visit at New Mangalore. According to New Mangalore Port (NMP) sources, the cruise ship "MS Europa 2," which was carrying 271 guests and 373 staff members, docked at berth number 4 at the port.

The vessel, which is sailing under the flag of Malta, has a 42,830 gross tonnes carrying capacity, and her stated current draught is 6.3 metres. It is 29.99 metres wide and 224.38 metres long overall (LOA).

About the 2020 vessel
On February 18, 2020, a cruise vessel with 1,800 passengers and 800 crew members arrived at the port. Later, under orders from the Union administration, cruise ships were forbidden from entering the port in March 2020 owing of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

NMP officials had made all preparations
11 immigration and 4 customs counters were built up for the purpose, and arrangements were made for the medical screening of travellers. In addition, 15 pre-paid taxis, six bus coaches, and automobiles were kept available to pick up guests.
