Temples in Maharashtra to reopen on October 7

Maharashtra on Friday logged 3,286 new Covid-19 infections taking the state's overall caseload to 65,37,843.

All temples in Maharashtra will be allowed to open for the public from October 7, the Chief Minister's Office announced on Friday. The decision to reopen the temples was taken keeping in view the upcoming Navratri festival which begins on October 7.

The BJP has been demanding the opening of the religious places in Maharashtra which were closed after the state saw a devasting second wave of Coronavirus. Besides that Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had also been demanding the opening of temples.

Maharashtra on Friday logged 3,286 new Covid-19 infections taking the state's overall caseload to 65,37,843. The death toll further climbed to 1,38,776 as 51 more lives were lost due to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.


According to govt's data, Maharashtra's COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 97.23 per cent.
