EC extends Telangana electoral roll revision schedule, final list on Oct 19

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana, with the final electoral roll now set to be published on October 19, 2026. The revision will be carried out with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date.

The decision comes after the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana sought additional time to complete voter enumeration.

Under the revised schedule issued by ECI Secretary Pawan Diwan, house-to-house enumeration by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and the rationalisation of polling stations will continue until August 10. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 17, following which claims and objections can be filed between August 17 and September 16.


The process of disposing of claims and objections, along with the notice period, will run from August 17 to October 15, before the final electoral roll is published on October 19.

The Commission has directed state election authorities to widely publicise the revised schedule across media platforms and inform all recognised political parties in writing.

Separately, the ECI on Friday published the draft electoral rolls for Andhra Pradesh after completing the enumeration phase of the SIR. According to the Chief Electoral Officer's office, 3.71 crore electors, or 89.22% of the state's 4.16 crore voters, submitted Enumeration Forms during the exercise conducted between June 15 and July 24.

The revision exercise identified 15.22 lakh electors (3.66%) as deceased, while 22.30 lakh (5.35%) were categorised as permanently shifted, absent or under other categories. Another 7.37 lakh electors (1.77%) were found to be enrolled at multiple locations.

The ECI said duplicate registrations would be retained at only one location in accordance with the prescribed procedure. It added that some electors were not traced by BLOs or did not submit Enumeration Forms because they had registered in other states or Union Territories, could not be located, missed the July 24 deadline, or chose not to register for various reasons.
