A 19-year-old food delivery executive died by suicide at his home in Kolathur area of Chennai on Tuesday. His suicide note revealed he was distraught after being scolded by a woman customer during a grocery delivery.

The Kolathur police identified the deceased as J Pavithran from Kolathur, a Bcom student who worked part-time for a food delivery company. On September 11, Pavithran had difficulty finding a house in Korattur to deliver groceries, causing a delay. Police said the woman customer complained about the delay and requested the delivery company not to send Pavithran again.

"Later, the woman raised a complaint with the delivery company and asked them not to send Pavithran again for delivery. We do not know what action was taken from the company's side," a police source said.

Two days later, Pavithran allegedly broke a window at the woman’s house by throwing a stone. The woman lodged a complaint with the Korattur police, resulting in Pavithran’s parents being called, and he was let off with a warning. On Tuesday, Pavithran took his own life at his home.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
