Tata Trusts hearings adjourned to October 15

The Charity Commissioner, Maharashtra, on Tuesday adjourned until October 15 hearings on objections filed by former Tata Trusts trustee Mehli Mistry against change reports recording his exit from three Tata trusts.

The adjournment was sought by lawyers representing the Tata Trusts, who sought additional time to file their rejoinder to Mistry's complaints. The Trusts also cited the retirement of Vijay Singh, the reporting trustee in one of the matters. Singh's tenure ended on August 14, and he opted not to seek reappointment.

One of the matters concerns Mistry's objections to the change report relating to the Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT), in which he has raised allegations of governance lapses and other issues.


The other two matters relate to his complaints regarding the eligibility of certain trustees of the Bai Hirabai Trust and alleged governance lapses at the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT).

The hearings in the SDTT and Bai Hirabai Trust matters were also adjourned due to the absence of the presiding officer.

All three matters will now come up for hearing on October 15.
