Tamil Nadu: A suspected chemical leak at a matriculation higher secondary school in Tiruvottiyur left several students feeling unwell, with at least three requiring hospital admission, police reported on Friday. Some students experienced breathing difficulties, eye irritation, and sudden nausea, causing panic within the school, according to PTI.

One student described the scene: “Some of us rushed out of the classroom for fresh air. Even our teachers struggled to breathe, and some students fainted, needing revival by the staff." Many pupils reported feeling uneasy, prompting the school administration to call ambulances to transport them to nearby hospitals.

Concerned parents also arrived and took their children to a government hospital, where most were treated as outpatients. Police are investigating whether the leak originated within the school or from a nearby chemical factory.

The condition of the three students admitted to Stanley Government Medical College Hospital is stable, officials confirmed.
