Pongal which is one of the most important festivals in the State is around the corner but the government has said festivities organised by both government and private organisations will have to be postponed.
Places of worship to be closed for the public on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Amusement parks too will not be allowed to operate. Further, the government ordered for 50% occupancy on all buses, trains and metros.
TN Health Minister MA Subramanian on Wednesday said a mega Covid-19 vaccination camp will be held across the state on Saturday while adding that the Chief Minister MK Stalin had decided to enhance the Covid-19 restrictions through measures like the Sunday complete lockdown, ban on entry of people to places of worship on weekends and closure of schools.
Tamil Nadu reported 2,731 fresh cases on Tuesday pushing the total tally to 27,55,587. Nine deaths too were reported taking the death toll to 36,805, as per the state health bulletin.
