Tamil Nadu extends lockdown till 19 July; announces further relaxations

The Tamil Nadu govt on Saturday extended its Covid-19 lockdown till 19 July with further relaxations to imposed restrictions.

Hotels, tea shops, bakeries, roadside shops, and snack shops can now function with 50% of customers till 9pm, while schools, colleges, theatres, liquor bars, swimming pools, and zoos will remain closed.

Inter-State transport, except for in Puducherry, and social, political, and cultural events will remain barred. Operation of public transport like buses will continue to Puducherry.


Shops and other activities which were allowed till 8 pm, will be allowed to remain open till 9 pm.

Examinations for employment opportunities for Tamil Nadu state and central government are allowed to take place.
