Tamil Nadu state board schools will reopen on June 6 after summer vacation.

The school education department has directed all CEOs to make arrangements for reopening of the schools.

Tamil Nadu announced summer holidays for children studying in classes I to IX early this year due to Lok Sabha elections on April 19. The Directorates of School Education and Elementary Education announced the summer holidays on April 13.

"Due to the elections, all government, government-aided and private schools in Tamil Nadu should conduct final exams for classes I to IX from April 2 to 12. Teachers should attend election training for the polls," the circular said then.

It asked the teachers to carry out evaluation of answer scripts, release of results and admission to next academic year from April 23 to 26. It announced that the last working day of the academic year would be April 26.

"The school reopening date will be declared later," the circular then added.
