The Delhi High Court on Friday denied bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, bail. Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta dismissed Kumar's bail plea, saying no ground to grant him the relief was made out.

Swati Maliwal had alleged that Bibhav Kumar assaulted her inside the Chief Minister’s residence on May 13. She registered an FIR, that detailed the assault, on May 16. The accused was arrested on May 18. He is currently in judicial custody.

Kumar was booked under several provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including including those related to criminal intimidation, assault or criminal force on a woman with the intent to disrobe, and attempt to commit culpable homicide.

Kumar had sought bail, claiming the allegations were false and his custody was no longer required as the probe was over.

He had earlier been denied bail by Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court.
