A suspicious, unattended bag was found on Thursday in the Rohini area and it sent security agencies into a tizzy as the national capital prepares ahead of Independence Day.

When the bag was first discovered, a team of police personnel were called along with a bomb detection squad and some sniffer dogs to ensure it wasn't a security risk.

The bag was found lying near a canteen in the Nirankari colony and was later claimed by an elderly woman who stated that she had forgotten the bag. She said that she had come to the canteen for a meal and forgotten to carry the bag back with her, said a senior police officer.

The bag was checked and the contents contained nothing more than some cosmetic items and other items of the woman.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) also said that the objects were checked and nothing suspicious was found.
