Supreme Court sets aside Delhi HC order suspending Kuldeep Singh Sengar's life sentence in Unnao rape case

A bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant and justice Joymalya Bagchi remitted the matter to the high court for fresh adjudication.

The apex court asked the high court either to decide Sengar's appeal against conviction within three months or pass a fresh order on the application seeking suspension of sentence.
The Supreme Court had in December last year stayed the Delhi High Court order suspending Sengar's sentence and granting him bail during the pendency of his appeal against conviction in the Unnao rape case. The CBI had challenged the high court order before the apex court.
