2020 Delhi riots conspiracy case: SC seeks Delhi Police response on Athar Khan's bail plea
New Delhi: Supreme Court has sought Delhi Police's response to a bail plea filed by Athar Khan, an accused in a case concerning the alleged larger conspiracy behind the February 2020 North-East Delhi riots.

A bench of justices Aravind Kumar and Vipul M Pancholi last week issued a notice to the police on Khan's appeal, challenging a July 7 Delhi High Court verdict that rejected his bail plea.

Khan has been in custody since July 2020. He has sought bail, among other grounds, on prolonged incarceration, delay in trial and parity with co-accused Shadab Ahmad, who has been granted bail by SC.

Khan has argued that no weapon was recovered from him and there was no CCTV footage showing his role in the violence.
