Supreme Court of India refuses to entertain plea on Babur or Babri Masjid
New Delhi: Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a public interest litigation seeking directions to the Centre and states to ban the establishment of any mosque in the name of Babur or Babri Masjid.

A division bench comprising justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta refused to entertain the plea filed by one Devkinandan alias Devki Nandan Pandey. The petitioner eventually proceeded to withdraw his plea to ban the construction, establishment or naming of any mosque or religious structure in the name of Babur or Babri Masjid or any other derivative names across India.

The plea contended that no structure should be constructed in the "name of a person who came as an invader in our country".
