New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday recorded Rajasthan government's assurance that elections to urban local bodies in the State will not be postponed beyond April 2026. Recording the assurance the top Court refused to interfere with a Rajasthan High Court order permitting the polls to be held within that timeline.

The development took place during the hearing of a plea filed by Congress leader and former MLA Sanyam Lodha, challenging the High Court's order which allowed the State to complete the municipal elections by April 2026. Lodha had sought immediate conduct of the elections, alleging undue delay in the electoral process.
