Sunjay Kapur of Sona Comstar dies of heart attack

Sunjay Kapur, Chairman of Sona Comstar and a prominent figure in India’s automotive sector, passed away on Thursday after suffering a heart attack.

Earlier that day, Kapur had taken to social media to express grief over the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour,” he posted.



Kapur headed Sona Comstar, a leading global auto components manufacturer based in Gurugram. He also served as the President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and co-chaired the Manufacturing Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

He was on the board of The Doon School in Dehradun, his alma mater. He completed his BBA from the University of Buckingham and later attended Harvard Business School's Owner-President Management Program.
