Who are Rohit Rathod and Nitin Fauji?
Rohit Rathod, the assailant responsible for the killing of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the President of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, hails from Rajasthan. According to the suspect's neighbors, Rathod had a prior arrest under the POCSO Act, as reported by media reports. Following his time in jail, he reportedly associated with various gang members.
Rathod's father, who served in the army, faced health issues and eventually succumbed to cancer, possibly exacerbated by his son's actions. Rathod was frequently seen arriving in luxurious vehicles, accompanied by a group of young men.
Nitin Fauji reportedly serves in the 19 Jat Battalion and is currently stationed in Alwar. Nitin Fauji, whose father Ashok Kumar is a retired army personnel, got married a year ago in Behrrod.
Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Kailash Chandra Bishnoi told TOI that the police apprehended Ramveer Singh, a native of Mahendragarh district in Haryana. Bishnoi highlighted that Singh, who had previously pursued studies in Jaipur, played a pivotal role in the conspiracy, contributing essential groundwork at the local level.
Ramveer and Nitin were friends, having both originated from Mahendragarh and attended RPS Senior Secondary School together for their class 12 education.
After completing their schooling, Nitin enlisted in the army in 2019, while Ramveer relocated to Jaipur to pursue a BSc at Wilfred College in Mansarovar, followed by an MSc in Mathematics at Vivek College.
Around November 19, Ramveer arrived in Jaipur and stayed at a friend's place to lay the groundwork. He also scouted hotels and accommodations at the residences of relatives for Nitin's stay.
On December 4, Fauji went to Pratap Nagar, and authorities suspect that he was there to collect pistols and 9mm bullets, which the gang had selected for the planned murder.
