Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose epitomised courage, grit: PM Modi on Parakram Diwas
On the occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 128th birth anniversary, PM Narendra Modi delivered a tribute on Thursday to the legendary freedom fighter, describing him as a towering figure in India’s struggle for independence. PM Modi also paid floral tributes to Bose at the Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi.

The day, which is celebrated as Parakram Diwas (Day of Valor), saw the prime minister extend his respects to the leader and recognise his contributions to the nation.

"On the auspicious occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birth anniversary, the entire country is remembering him with respect. I bow down to him. This year we are celebrating the birth anniversary of Netaji at his birthplace. I extend congratulations to the Odisha government for this," he said in a virtual message through social media platform X.

"When our country is working to achieve the aim of 'Viksit Bharat', we seek a lot of inspiration from the life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The biggest aim of his life was 'Azad Hind'. He was born in a wealthy family. He passed the civil services exam and if he wanted, Netaji could have led a comfortable life after taking up an officer's post in British India but he chose to struggle for the independence of India. He sacrificed his comfort zone and we will also have to leave our comfort zones to achieve the goal of 'Viksit Bharat'," he added.

President Droupadi Murmu also paid floral tributes to the late freedom fighter on the occasion, observing Parakram Diwas. Among other leaders who echoed the sentiment were Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bengal BJP leader Suvendhu Adhikari.
