AFSPA
Valley-based civil society organisation, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity(COCOMI) stated ITLF and CoTU's demand of imposing AFSPA in Valley areas of Manipur is just like beating against bush and not logical.
The body stated, “The ransom, demands and killings are happening in Kuki dominated areas. Moreover, violation of law and order are at their highest level in areas where Suspension of Operation (SoO) militant Camps are situated. For the last 40 years, there has been no rule of law in hill areas, most particularly in Kuki dominated areas. Whereas there has been reasonable peace in all AFSPA-lifted areas of Manipur Valley since a long time back.
Afspa is non-existent in 19 police stations of the state and especially in Imphal. Areas in and around Imphal have witnessed large scale since May 3.
