The public holiday list, issued by both BSE and NSE, applies to the capital markets, as well as the futures and options segments. This year, the holidays fall on:
- March 8 (Friday): Mahashivratri
- March 25 (Monday): Holi
- March 29 (Friday): Good Friday
In February, however, there were no trading holidays for the stock markets.
Adding the January 22 holiday to the list, the total number of trading holidays for the year now stands at 15. Looking ahead, in April, the markets will remain closed on the 11th (Id-Ul-Fitr) and the 17th (Ram Navami). Additionally, on May 1 (Maharashtra Day), June 7 (Bakrid), July 17 (Muharram), August 15 (Independence Day), October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti), November 1 (Diwali), November 25 (Guru Nanak Jayanti), and December 25 (Christmas), the markets will also be closed.
The stock market is expected to remain closed for trading on three occasions in March this year. Meanwhile, February had no holidays, and January had one. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will be closed on public holidays, with no trading taking place in the equity sector, equity derivative segment, and SLB segment. This public holiday list also applies to the capital markets and futures and options segments.
