The move aims to curb illegal roadside parking identified as a major problem in a traffic mobility survey commissioned by the GDA in 2018. The findings highlighted the encroachment of car spaces due to illegal parking, especially in areas like Indirapuram and Kala Pathar Road.
Kala Pathar Road experienced a significant issue with illegally parked vehicles, occupying approximately 450 car spaces at any given time. The report also highlighted similar challenges near SRS Cinema, where around 287 car spaces were affected, as well as on Swarn Jayanti Park Road and CISF Road, each witnessing the occupation of 128 car spaces due to unauthorised parking.
