Guwahati: A stand-off situation unfolded along the India–Bangladesh border at Nandirchar in Meghalaya's South West Garo hills district near Mahendraganj after Bangladeshi authorities allegedly refused to accept a Bangladeshi national who had been pushed back by the Border Security Force (BSF).

According to reports, the individual had allegedly entered India illegally through the Meghalaya border and was subsequently apprehended by the BSF. Following standard procedures, the security force reportedly pushed back the individual back towards the Bangladesh side of the border.

In videos of the incident the BGB from Jamalpur in Bangladesh and BSF personnel on the Indian side were seen in altercation about the nationality and identity of the person.


It is alleged that the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local residents on the Bangladeshi side refused to accept the individual after the pushback operation.

As a result, the person is reportedly stranded in ' no man's land . The alleged person is from Rajshahi in Bangaldesh, BSF sources added
