Karnataka to convene special cabinet meeting on April 24 to discuss Scheduled Castes internal reservation
Bengaluru, The Karnataka government has convened a special Cabinet meeting on April 24 to discuss internal reservation for Scheduled Castes, government sources said on Monday.

The meeting was earlier scheduled for March 27 but was cancelled due to the model code of conduct in the state for assembly bypolls in Davanagere South and Bagalkote on April 9.

With the elections now concluded, the government decided to hold it.

The discussion on the internal reservation was essential to fill 65,000 vacant government posts, sources said.

Sources added that there are over 2.5 lakh vacancies in the state and without finalising the internal reservation, the posts cannot be filled.

The government decided to speed up the recruitment process in view of growing unrest among unemployed youths in the state.
