Soon-to-be-married Andhra techie dies of heart attack after watching World Cup final

Unable to cope with India's defeat against Australia in the World Cup final on Sunday, a hardcore fan of team India died after suffering a heart attack.

Jyothi Kumar Yadav (32), a software engineer, suffered fatal cardiac arrest after watching India lose the World Cup final to Australia, news agency IANS reported. The tragic incident occurred in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district on Sunday night.

Yadav was 32 and hailed from Durgasamudram village in Tirupati rural, Deccan Chronicle reported. Citing sources, the report said that the incident occurred late Sunday night during the Cricket World Cup Final match between India and Australia and he was watching the match with his family and friends. An ardent cricket fan, he suddenly collapsed due to a heart attack.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Tirupati but was declared dead on arrival.


Jyoti, the son of retired TTD or Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam employee had recently completed his Master's in Computer Applications and was working from home as a software professional, the report said. Yadav was also supposed to get married soon, news agency IANS reported.

Meanwhile, Tirupati Urban Development Authority chairman Mohith Reddy visited Yadav's house on Monday and condoled his death.

In the final on Sunday, after India's loss to Australia by 6 wickets, skipper Rohit Sharma and some other players broke down in tears. Virat Kohli, who scored the most runs in the competition and was named player of the tournament, was also seen devastated by the loss.

Hosts India had an outstanding record leading up to the final by registering 10 consecutive victories.

In another incident from West Bengal, a 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after India lost the World Cup final to Australia, reports said quoting his family said. Heartbroken by India's loss to Australia, he hung himself in his room, a family member said.

His body was sent to the Bankura Sammilani Medical Colleg for post-mortem examination, police said, adding that a case of unnatural death was registered.
