Sonu sood arrives in Kathmandu with relief supplies for Nepal flood survivors: 'Will try to bring people's lives back on track'

Actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has reached Kathmandu alongside his team from the Sood Charity Foundation to deliver critical assistance to communities devastated by recent floods in Nepal. Landing in the capital on Tuesday, Sood confirmed that his foundation plans to provide sustained, long-term support to the region.

The catastrophic flash floods struck northern and central Nepal on August 26, triggered by a massive collapse of ice and rock near the Nepal-Tibet border. According to Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the death toll reached 1,003 by Tuesday, with approximately 4,000 individuals still missing and nearly 12,000 rescued.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival, Sood detailed the foundation's immediate focus on distributing essential items while evaluating broader, ongoing needs.

"We are here to meet all the victims of the flood. We just want to be with the people who are in need and will try to bring their lives back (on track)," Sood told reporters. "We have got a lot of blankets, food materials and we are still asking whatever they need, we are trying to send it from India."

Addressing the long-term impact of the disaster, he added, "We will make sure that not only this month but also in coming months, the relief keeps coming."

Sood had initially announced his mission on August 26 via X, sharing: "Nepal, you are not alone. We are coming with food, shelter and the strength to help you rebuild." Following his arrival in Kathmandu, he shared photos on social media alongside local children, posting: "They lost their homes, their families, their childhood..but together, we will help them find a new beginning. Nepal, you are not alone."

This initiative builds on Sood's extensive history of crisis intervention. He earned widespread acclaim during the COVID-19 pandemic for coordinating transport for thousands of stranded migrant workers across India. His humanitarian work also includes organizing relief operations during the 2025 Punjab floods and providing free accommodation to travelers stranded in Dubai during flight disruptions caused by Middle East tensions in March.
