Sonam Wangchuk arrested after Ladakh protest violence over statehood demand

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was arrested on Friday, two days after violent protests over the demand for statehood and inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution left four dead and nearly 90 injured, officials said.Police sources confirmed Wangchuk was taken into custody at 2:30 pm by a team led by Ladakh DGP S. D. Singh Jamwal. The charges against him were not immediately clear.
