Water Supply Cut in Delhi: Some areas in North Delhi will experience a 16-hour water supply disruption on Tuesday due to scheduled maintenance work by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The DJB statement said that water supply will be halted due to repair work, and residents in the affected areas are urged to use water carefully. The board also said that water tankers will be provided upon request through the DJB helpline or central control room.

In a statement issued on Monday, the DJB announced that water supply will be stopped from 8 p.m. on September 10, impacting several areas. The affected locations include
  • Gopalpur
  • DDA SFS Flat Mukherjee Nagar
  • Gujranwala Town
  • Azadpur Police Station
  • JJ cluster in Azadpur Mandi
  • Shalimar Bagh
  • Wazirpur Industrial Area
  • Lawrence Road
  • Punjabi Bagh and nearby regions.

Delhi water cut Reason

The Delhi Jal Board clarified that the water supply halt is necessary to carry out repairs on a 1500 mm diameter Punjabi Bagh main pipeline located at Indra Vihar Park. The pipeline is connected to the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant (WTP). According to the DJB statement, “A shutdown for 16 hours with effect from 8 p.m. on September 10 has been approved by the competent authority for repairing of the 1500 mm dia Punjabi Bagh main at Indra Vihar park emanating from Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant (WTP).”


DJB Water Cut Advisory for Residents

Residents of the affected areas are advised to use water carefully during the repair period. Water tankers will be available on request from the DJB helpline or the central control room.

The Delhi Jal Board urged residents to plan accordingly and make necessary arrangements for water during the period of disruption.
