Assam: Six people missing after boat capsizes in Brahmaputra River in Barpeta
Guwahati: Six persons including three children have remained missing in Assam's Barpeta district after the boat they were travelling in capsized.

Police said that the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon. There were about 36 people in the boat including some children. The boat capsized in the middle of Brahmaputra river, police said adding that the boat was on its way to Barghol from Rahamour area.

The locals said that there were no life jackets on the boat.


Barpeta Circle Officer Jyotirmoy Choudhury said that SDRF team have been deployed immediately to carryout rescue.

The SDRF will resume the rescue operation tomorrow again, officials said.
