The Special Investigation Team that had handed out a clean chit to all top constitutional authorities in connection with the 2002 riots in Gujarat on Wednesday claimed that it had addressed all issues raised by Zakia Ehsan Jafri, and stood by its clean chit to all functionaries at the helm of affairs in the state.

Ehsan Jafri, a Congress leader, was killed by a mob despite repeated pleas to the state administration for help.

His widow Zakia has challenged the SIT clean chit on the basis of which a trial court closed the case and refused to further examine her allegations.
