Sister Rohini's kidney was the best match for my father: Tejashwi on Lalu's kidney transplant

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav today said that his sister Rohini's kidney was found to be the best match for the Lalu Yadav's kidney transplant. Lalu Yadav's Singapore-based daughter Rohini will donate a kidney to her ailing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) patriarch Lalu Yadav.

The Bihar deputy chief minister said his sister's kidney was found to be the best match and the family ahead with the decision.

"The doctors wanted someone from the family to donate a kidney to my father. My sister Rohini's kidney was the best match and so we went ahead with it," Tejashwi said in Patna.


On Friday, the RJD chief's daughter posted a series of tweets on her decision to donate a kidney to her father.

"My father brought me up and means everything to me. I will consider myself to be extremely fortunate to contribute a small part of my life to saiving his," Rohini tweeted.

Yadav, 74, returned last month from Singapore where he had gone for treatment of his kidney problems.

Apparently, Lalu Yadav's kidneys have suffered 75 per cent damage and he is undergoing treatment in AIIMS Delhi. Though the doctors here denied the permission for kidney transplant, their Singapore counterparts gave their go ahead.

The RJD chief has long been suffering from various health issues and the doctors attending on him had recently advised a kidney transplant.

Yadav, who is currently in Delhi, is out on bail. He has been jailed for his involvement in fodder cases and has been hospitalised several times in Delhi and Ranchi for treatment.It is not clear where the kidney transplant surgery will happen and when.
