The revised schedule was communicated by the Commission to the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal in compliance with directions issued by the Supreme Court of India on February 9, 2026, in connection with Writ Petition (Civil) No. 1089 of 2025.
As per the notification dated February 10, 2026, the Commission has revised the programme for the ongoing SIR exercise in the state. Hearings of notices issued during the revision process will be completed by February 14, followed by scrutiny of documents and disposal of cases by February 21.
The rationalisation of polling stations is scheduled to be completed by February 25, while checking of health parameters related to the electoral roll revision will be carried out by February 27. The final publication of the electoral roll has been fixed for February 28, the notification said.
The Commission noted that the revised timeline follows earlier communications issued on October 27 and December 30, 2025, as well as January 15, 2026, and is aimed at ensuring strict compliance with the Supreme Court’s order.
The notification has been issued by the Commission’s Secretary and copies have been forwarded to the Chief Secretary of West Bengal and other concerned officials for necessary compliance.
