Sikkim government has issued an advisory asking people to take precautionary measures to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19.

The government has asked people to observe social distancing and use face masks in public places.

The Sikkim government has advised all to get vaccinated for Covid-19. “It is advisable to take all precautionary measures to avoid a Covid-19 outbreak in our country and state,” the notification said.


The government stated that the advisory has been issued in view of a spike in Covid-19 in various countries and considering the festive season and New Year Celebrations.

Sikkim had faced severe COVID-19 infection in recent waves. In Assam the Health Department staged a mock drill in 1,264 government health institutes, including all medical colleges and district hospitals, and 177 private institutes to ensure operational readiness for Covid-19 management with a focus on infrastructure, oxygen plants, ventilators, ICUs, beds, logistic support etc.

The state government stated the state has all the required logistic support, consumables, beds, oxygen and other necessary items to deal with any emergency Covid-19 situation.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will review the preparedness of medical colleges and hospitals of the state in the first week of January 2023.

Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said, " The Chief Minister will review the preparedness of COVID-19 in the first week of January.”
