The ministry said in a statement that the blocked accounts and handles pose threat to India's unity and sovereignty. The PIB Twitter handle also shared images of content aired by the blocked channel. The I&B ministry's action is in line with its recent moves. In December, it ordered the closure of 20 YouTube channels and two websites for spreading anti-India propaganda and fake news, followed by the blocking of 35 more anti-India channels last month.
The SFJ was in news ahead of voting in Punjab over the weekend, after Kumar Vishwas, a former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, alleged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had links to Khalistani elements. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi produced an apparent letter from the SFJ's legal advisor alleging his support to AAP. Kejriwal has rubbished the allegations. Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the alleged links would be investigated.
