Sidhu Moose Wala: The last ride

Sidhu Moose Wala's favourite tractor, which had figured in many of his music videos, was bedecked with flowers for his last ride to a family-owned field at his native village for the cremation.

In spite of the scorching heat, thousands of mourners joined the funeral procession. Moose Wala's father and mother stood on the tractor with folded hands, accompanying their son on his final journey.

Some of his fans wore t-shirts with Moose Wala's picture printed on them. They raised slogans in favour of the renowned singer, gunned down on Sunday by unidentified assailants while travelling in his vehicle.

The singer's father, Balkour Singh, even took off his turban on seeing the sea of mourners. It was an emotional moment for all those gathered at his native village in Mansa district.

And then, late on Monday afternoon, Sidhu Moose Wala's mortal remains were consigned to flames. His fans bid a tearful adieu to the singer, cut down at the age of 28 at the height of his fame.
