On March 8, coinciding with the celebration of Mahashivratri nationwide, banks in several states will remain shuttered, offering an extended weekend to many. The decision to close banks on this occasion hinges on directives from both state governments and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

According to the holiday schedule provided by the central bank, March will witness a total of 14 days of bank closures across various states. Moreover, some states are set to observe three consecutive days of bank holidays on two separate occasions, resulting in two prolonged weekend breaks.

These planned closures include Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays, public holidays, as well as certain regional holidays specific to particular states. To aid individuals in organizing their visits to bank branches effectively, here is a detailed list of bank holidays for March 2024.

March 2024 Bank Holidays:

• Chapchar Kut, Sivarathri, Bihar Divas, Holi (Second Day) - Dhuleti/Dol Jatra/Dhulandi, Yaosang 2nd Day/Holi, and Good Friday

Mahashivratri Bank Holiday:

On March 8, banks in select states will remain closed in observance of Mahashivratri. This will be followed by the second Saturday and Sunday.
