About Rs 3,726 crore in central assistance has been released to the state so far this fiscal to ensure swift disbursement of the first installment to beneficiaries to start house construction, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Upon timely utilisation, an additional Rs 4,934 crore may be released within the fiscal year,” it added.
Earlier this month, Chouhan had also approved the construction of 3,30,000 more houses under the scheme in Chhattisgarh.
In August last year, the cabinet had approved Rs 3.06 lakh crore to build 30 million houses across the country over five years, 20 million of which would be built under the PMAY-G.
Since 2016, the construction of 32.3 million houses has been sanctioned under the PMAY-G, which includes both the earlier and the current commitments.
Since the scheme’s launch, a total of Rs 2.37 lakh crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries across the nation, the ministry said.
As for Madhya Pradesh, of the 4.15 million houses sanctioned since 2016, about 3.68 million have been built, it added.
