Mumbai: Shirish Chandra Murmu took over as the deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India on Thursday for a period of three years. Murmu will look after the department of communication, department of government and bank accounts, department of regulation and enforcement department, RBI said in a release. Murmu has been with the RBI since 1991 and as ED worked with the department of supervision and secretary's department.

The RBI on Thursday also appointed Sanjay Kumar Hansda as executive director, who will begin his term from March 3. As ED, Hansda will look after the department of economic and policy research, RBI said in a release.
